Child Safety in a Child Care Centre

The Government has amended the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 to ensure children are being properly cared for while in a child centre. ‘The purpose of this Act is to ensure that only suitable people are employed to supervise children in limited child care centres.’

This means the employer must make sure the employees are both trained and fit to look after children. A Police vet must be obtained for every person not registered as a teacher who may have unsupervised access to the children. Damn good stuff, and as my first blog on safety I’m glad it was on an important topic. For more specifics you can view the legislation here.
